Good for feature development

Used Devin AI for a new feature. It helped with initial scaffolding and some boilerplate. Saved time on setup. Interface was clean. Did need some manual adjustments, but overall a positive experience. Worth checking out if you get the chance.

Decent tool, some room for growth

I got access to Devin for my team and used it to try and resolve some technical debt on a legacy system. The automated bug fixing feature was surprisingly capable for identifying common issues, and the repository indexing made it easier to navigate a huge codebase. However, sometimes its suggestions for code migration were a bit too aggressive, requiring manual oversight to prevent breaking changes. Customer service was responsive when I had a question about setting up the enterprise workspace, which was a plus. The value is there, especially for repetitive tasks, but it's not a complete replacement for a human engineer yet. It's a solid 4-star tool, could be five with a bit more refinement in complex refactoring scenarios.

Got early access, it's pretty neat

I managed to get off the waitlist for Devin AI, mostly just curious what it could do. I tried it out on a small side project, basically migrating some old code. It actually handled a lot of the boilerplate stuff pretty well, even in a language I hadn't touched in a while. It's not perfect, still needed to nudge it a bit, but it saved me a good chunk of time. Setup was straightforward, and I was up and running quickly. Definitely felt like I was working with an extra pair of hands.

can individual developers even use devin ai, or is it just for big companies?

A Abigail Evans 3 weeks ago
They do say 'available for individual developers' in one of the general FAQs. So yes, but getting access is the main hurdle.

E Emma Turner 2 weeks ago
Yeah, it's not *only* for enterprise. But don't expect it to be easy to get in as a single developer. The waitlist is real.

Thinking about getting Devin for my startup. Are there any special programs or credits for startups?

S Sandra Phillips 3 weeks ago
Definitely! They explicitly mention 'startup program credits' in their known deal patterns. That's probably your best bet for some sort of discount or initial access.
1
S Sam Baker 3 weeks ago
Yeah, I've seen that too. They seem to be targeting startups, so definitely look into their startup program for potential credits or easier access.

Any chance of a discount code for Devin AI floating around? Or is that just wishful thinking?

R Richard Allen 1 month ago
Wishful thinking mostly. They're super selective. Codes are usually tied to big partnerships or specific early adopter groups, not public coupon codes.
2
E Ella Mitchell 1 month ago
I think discounts are pretty rare, usually for big enterprise contracts or startup programs with specific terms. Don't expect to find a 'SPRING20' coupon code, haha.

How does Devin AI stack up against GitHub Copilot? Is it even comparable or totally different leagues?

M Megan Torres 1 week ago
Totally different. Copilot is more like an autocomplete on steroids. Devin is supposed to be an actual autonomous engineer that can tackle full tasks, debug, deploy... way more involved.
3
A Anthony F. 1 week ago
Yeah, I'd say Devin is trying to replace a significant chunk of a dev's work, while Copilot is more of an assistant. Devin aims to own the whole problem.

hey, trying to figure out the pricing for Devin AI. do they have like, a monthly subscription for individuals or is it all enterprise stuff?

B Betty 1 month ago
I think for individuals it's more about getting off the waitlist first. Pricing details usually come after you get access, at least that's what I gathered.
2
M Megan Brown 1 month ago
Yeah, pretty sure it's not a simple 'add to cart' situation yet. They're super selective. Discounts are mostly for big companies or startups they're partnering with, not really individual monthly rates you'd find easily.

Is it easy to get off the waitlist for Devin AI? or is it super exclusive still?

A Alex Lewis 3 weeks ago
From what I hear, it's pretty exclusive. You'll probably be on it for a bit unless you have some kind of 'in' or are part of a larger org they're targeting.

D Deborah W. 3 weeks ago
They do mention waitlist bypass codes in their FAQs. So maybe if you know someone or get invited through a program, but otherwise, I think it's just a waiting game.

Anyone know if Devin AI works with private GitHub repos? My team has a lot of sensitive code there and I'd need it to integrate safely.

K Kyle E. 3 weeks ago
Yup, they actually specifically mention supporting private GitHub repositories. Should be good on that front.

R Rachel Hernandez 2 weeks ago
I'd still dig into their data privacy and security docs though, just to be super sure. But yeah, it's a feature.
